Camera back!

Got the camera back and managed to get some photos of my flowers. There are so many things out just now it's silly. The garden is still showing off with marigolds, Lobelia and geraniums, I'm not sure they will survive the cold weather that is forecast for the next few days, but we will see. Inside I have some grape hyacinth which have grown far too many leaves. I found that with all my indoor bulbs this year, it must be something to do with the mild weather. The paperwhites, which never let me down, have been very leafy this year and with much less flowers than usual. My hyacinth just about made it and bloomed normally, but the grape hyacinths are very leggy and strained.
My Christmas cactus is superb at the moment though, I have 3 of these in flower just now and they are such a lovely splash of colour on those grey January days.
As is this red beauty, whose name I have forgotten, but have stashed the label in a safe place somewhere. I'm so pleased with this, it's covered in buds and flowers, much to my astonishment, I really thought I was going to kill it!
And lastly, a very happy cat who came in all cold and miserable and snuggled into a blanket to get warm and toasty again!

Camera issues

I had some lovely tulips that I wanted to photograph in the sunshine and forgot I had lent my camera to my designer son............3 days later, the tulips are very sad, and I've only just got the camera back. Sigh.

Wedding box

This is a project I've been working on for a while now, it rested for far too long because I couldn't get fabric in the colour I wanted. It's a present for a friend to put her wedding keepsakes in, cards, pressed flowers, favours etc etc. The box is quite big, about 15" square and 12" high. I wanted to wrap it in the turquoise colour fabric, but I couldn't get any to match the sample I had.
So I went for scrumpled tissue paper instead and grey fabric to match the box colour, which I decided to keep on the lid only. The paper looks a lot better in real life! It's got Stickles on it and all is sprayed with varnish. I sewed on the fabric hearts and there are also bling hearts stuck on the box.
I wanted to make something completely different to my usual style and make it a bit more luxurious and glamorous. I'm not sure if I achieved that, but my friend likes it, so that's the main thing!

Wow, this has been a project and a half, mainly due to the fact that I was so busy it just got pushed aside and then it was a horrible rush to get it finished. I didn't have it done in time for Christmas, and although it is all put together now, there is still one side that doesn't have a border because I ran out of wool. If I can't get the same wool (it was in a sale) I will just get something similar to finish off the last edge. My daughter was very pleased with it, and impressed with the amount of work, and the fact that no 2 squares are the same. Next time I will be more diligent and buy LOTS more wool!
